7/10/25 : Hello! I see you've found my WIP page. It's been just over a year since I graduated, and in that time, I've been navigating the uncertainty of what's next. Not just in terms of a career, but in defining the purpose and direction of my next creative project.
I'm in search of something meaningful, something that not only fuels my own growth and curiosity but also contributes to change. I want to create work that informs, empowers, and uplifts. Work that reflects the times we’re living in and pushes back against the systems that continue to hold so many of us down.
As a Mexican-American woman, it’s disheartening to witness how deeply rooted discrimination still is in this country. The current state of affairs in the U.S. is far from inspiring—it’s frustrating, and in many ways, infuriating. But it also motivates me. I feel a responsibility to use my voice and creativity to speak truth, raise awareness, and advocate for my community.
I want to create art for the people; art that speaks, that educates, that connects. I believe in using creative work to spark conversation, build solidarity, and push for justice. This next chapter is still unfolding, but one thing is clear: I’m committed to being part of the movement. We, the people, will not be silenced. We will support each other, uplift each other, and fight for the future we all deserve.
It’s only the beginning, but I aspire to make a difference even if it starts small. Every act of creativity, every choice I make, is a step toward something more intentional, more impactful.
Currently, I work as a Production Artist at a local apparel company in my hometown of Santa Barbara, CA. Being in this space surrounded by design, process, and purpose has pushed me to think critically about how I can use the tools and resources already within my reach. It’s made me realize that change doesn’t always have to come from something massive or far away. Sometimes, it starts with what’s right in front of you.
This reflection has inspired me to begin developing apparel that speaks to the people and for the people; designs rooted in identity, resistance, and unity. I want to create pieces that not only make a statement but give back in the process, whether through collaboration with community organizations, profit-sharing with grassroots causes, or simply by creating visibility for underrepresented voices.
This is more than fashion. It’s storytelling. It’s activism. It’s the beginning of a journey to blend art, purpose, and community into something wearable, shareable, and deeply human.
I will be updating this page when I am available with art, mockups, ideas...etc.
Best,
Paola
